Fowler-Nordheim tunnelling
     
         (US: "tunneling") The quantum mechanical effect
        exploited in {EAPROM} and {Flash Erasable Programmable Read
        Only Memory}.  It differs from {Frenkel-Pool Tunnelling} in
        that it does not rely on defects in the {semiconductor}.
