Whaap \Whaap\, n. [So called from one of its notes.] (Zo["o]l.)
   (a) The European curlew; -- called also {awp}, {whaup},
       {great whaup}, and {stock whaup}.
   (b) The whimbrel; -- called also {May whaup}, {little whaup},
       and {tang whaup}. [Prov. Eng. & Scot.]
