Gynophore \Gyn"o*phore\, n. [Gr. ? woman, female + ? to bear,
   produce: cf. F. gynophore.]
   1. (Bot.) The pedicel raising the pistil or ovary above the
      stamens, as in the passion flower. --Lindley.

   2. (Zo["o]l.) One of the branches bearing the female
      gonophores, in certain Siphonophora.
