Immobilize \Im*mob"i*lize\, v. t. [Pref. im- in + mobilize; cf.
   f. immobiliser.]
   To make immovable; in surgery, to make immovable (a naturally
   mobile part, as a joint) by the use of splints, or stiffened
   bandages.
