   Ilium, the city of Ilus, a son of Tros, founder of Ilium,
   which is a poetical name of Troy.]
   A celebrated Greek epic poem, in twenty-four books, on the
   destruction of Ilium, the ancient Troy. The Iliad is ascribed
   to Homer.
