Pact \Pact\, n. [L. pactum, fr. paciscere to make a bargain or
   contract, fr. pacere to settle, or agree upon; cf. pangere to
   fasten, Gr. ?, Skr. p[=a]ca bond, and E. fang: cf. F. pacie.
