Parsimony \Par"si*mo*ny\, n. [L. parsimonia, parcimonia; cf.
   parcere to spare, parsus sparing: cf. F. parcimonie.]
   Closeness or sparingness in the expenditure of money; --
   generally in a bad sense; excessive frugality; niggardliness.

         Awful parsimony presided generally at the table.
