Pernicious \Per*ni"cious\, a. [L. perniciosus, from pernicies
   destruction, from pernecare to kill or slay outright; per +
   necare to kill, slay: cf. F. pernicieux. Cf. {Nuisance},

   Having the quality of injuring or killing; destructive; very
   mischievous; baleful; malicious; wicked.
