Phosgene \Phos"gene\, a. [Gr. ? light + the root of ? to be
   born: cf. F. phosg[`e]ne.] (Old Chem.)
   Producing, or produced by, the action of light; -- formerly
   used specifically to designate a gas now called {carbonyl
