Portmanteau \Port*man"teau\, n.; pl. {Portmanteaus}. [F.
   porte-manteau; porter to carry + manteau a cloak, mantle. See

   A bag or case, usually of leather, for carrying wearing
   apparel, etc., on journeys. --Thackeray.
