Proprietary \Pro*pri"e*ta*ry\, a. [L. proprietarius.]
   Belonging, or pertaining, to a proprietor; considered as
   property; owned; as, proprietary medicine.

   {Proprietary articles}, manufactured articles which some
      person or persons have exclusive right to make and sell.
