Quagga \Quag"ga\, n. [Hottentot.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A South African wild ass ({Equus, or Hippotigris, quagga}).
   The upper parts are reddish brown, becoming paler behind and
   behind and beneath, with dark stripes on the face, neck, and
   fore part of the body.
