Rigid \Rig"id\, a. [L. rigidus, fr. rigere to be stiff or numb:
   cf. F. rigide. Cf. {Rigor}. ]
   1. Firm; stiff; unyielding; not pliant; not flexible.

   2. Hence, not lax or indulgent; severe; inflexible; strict;
