Roustabout \Roust"a*bout`\, n. [Etymol. uncertain.]
   A laborer, especially a deck hand, on a river steamboat, who
   moves the cargo, loads and unloads wood, and the like; in an
   opprobrious sense, a shiftless vagrant who lives by chance
   jobs. [Western U.S.]
