Scandent \Scan"dent\, a. [L. scandens, -entis, p. pr. of
   scandere to climb.]
   Climbing.

   Note: Scandent plants may climb either by twining, as the
         hop, or by twisted leafstalks, as the clematis, or by
         tendrils, as the passion flower, or by rootlets, as the
         ivy.
