Stertorous \Ster"to*rous\, a. [L. stertere to snore: cf. F.
   stertoreux.]
   Characterized by a deep snoring, which accompaines
   inspiration in some diseases, especially apoplexy; hence,
   hoarsely breathing; snoring.

         Burning, stertorous breath that hurt her cheek. --Mrs.
