Tangerine \Tan"ger*ine`\, n. [Etymol. uncertain.] (Bot.)
   A kind of orange, much like the mandarin, but of deeper color
   and higher flavor. It is said to have been produced in
   America from the mandarin. [Written also {tangierine}.]
