Verdure \Ver"dure\, n. [F., fr. L. viridis green. See
   {Verdant}.]
   Green; greenness; freshness of vegetation; as, the verdure of
   the meadows in June.

         A wide expanse of living verdure, cultivated gardens,
         shady groves, fertile cornfields, flowed round it like
