Buck bean \Buck" bean`\ (b[=e]n`). (Bot.)
   A plant ({Menyanthes trifoliata}) which grows in moist and
   boggy places, having racemes of white or reddish flowers and
   intensely bitter leaves, sometimes used in medicine; marsh
   trefoil; -- called also {bog bean}.
