Burton \Bur"ton\, n. [Cf. OE. & Prov. E. bort to press or indent
   anything.] (Naut.)
   A peculiar tackle, formed of two or more blocks, or pulleys,
   the weight being suspended to a hook block in the bight of
   the running part.
