Gier-eagle \Gier"-ea`gle\, n. [Cf. D. gier vulture, G. gier, and
   E. gyrfalcon.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A bird referred to in the Bible (--Lev. xi. 18and --Deut.
   xiv. 17) as unclean, probably the Egyptian vulture ({Neophron
   percnopterus}).
