   vb. n. {Snickering}.] [Cf. D. snikken to sob, to sigh.]
   [Written also {snigger}.]
   1. To laugh slyly; to laugh in one's sleeve.

   2. To laugh with audible catches of voice, as when persons
      attempt to suppress loud laughter.
