Synanthrose \Syn*an"throse"\, n. [From NL. Synanther[ae] the
   Composit[ae]; Gr. sy`n with + ? blooming.] (Chem.)
   A variety of sugar, isomeric with sucrose, found in the
   tubers of the Jerusalem artichoke ({Helianthus tuberosus}),
   in the dahlia, and other Composit[ae].
