Beneficence \Be*nef"i*cence\, n. [L. beneficentia, fr.
   beneficus: cf. F. b['e]n['e]ficence. See {Benefice}.]
   The practice of doing good; active goodness, kindness, or
   charity; bounty springing from purity and goodness.

         And whose beneficence no charge exhausts. --Cowper.
