Bifid \Bi"fid\, a. [L. bifidus; bis twice + root of findere to
   cleave or split: cf. F. bifide.]
   Cleft to the middle or slightly beyond the middle; opening
   with a cleft; divided by a linear sinus, with straight
   margins.
