Brigantine \Brig"an*tine\, n. [F. brigantin, fr. It. brigantino,
   originally, a practical vessel. See {Brigand}, and cf.
   {Brig}]
   1. A practical vessel. [Obs.]

   2. A two-masted, square-rigged vessel, differing from a brig
      in that she does not carry a square mainsail.

   3. See {Brigandine}.
