Bugaboo \Bug`a*boo"\, Bugbear \Bug"bear`\, n. [See {Bug}.]
   Something frightful, as a specter; anything imaginary that
   causes needless fright; something used to excite needless
   fear; also, something really dangerous, used to frighten
   children, etc. ``Bugaboos to fright ye.'' --Lloyd.
