   That which shines. Specifically:
   (a) A luminary.
   (b) A bright piece of money. [Slang]

   A fresh-water fish of the United States ({Semotilus
   bullaris}); -- called also {silver chub}, and {Shiner}. The
   name is also applied to other allied species.
