Stylite \Sty"lite\, n. [Gr. ?, fr. ? a pillar.] (Eccl. Hist.)
   One of a sect of anchorites in the early church, who lived on
   the tops of pillars for the exercise of their patience; --
   called also {pillarist} and {pillar saint}.
