Synizesis \Syn`i*ze"sis\, n. [L., fr. Gr. ?, fr. ? to sit
   together; sy`n with + ? to sit.]
   1. (Med.) An obliteration of the pupil of the eye.

   2. (Gram.) A contraction of two syllables into one;
      synecphonesis.
