Esculent swallow

Esculent \Es"cu*lent\, a. [L. esculentus, fr. escare to eat, fr.
   esca food, fr. edere to eat: cf. F. esculent. See {Eat}.]
   Suitable to be used by man for food; eatable; edible; as,
   esculent plants; esculent fish.
