Stryphnic \Stryph"nic\, a. [Gr. ? astringent.] (Chem.)
   Pertaining to, or designating, a complex nitrogenous acid,
   obtained by the action of acetic acid and potassium nitrite
   on uric acid, as a yellow crystalline substance, with a
   bitter, astringent taste.
